Why is luxury vinyl so popular?

High-end style inspired-by-nature images of wood, stone, and tile, together with affordability, waterproof, and other functional characteristics, have made luxury vinyl flooring (LVF) a hot trend. As a top trend, wood-look flooring is also in vogue, and that can continue for at least 15 years.

Classic, versatile style

With LVF, you can turn your bathroom into a luxurious spa atmosphere with marble looks; create Greek and Roman-themed designs with encaustic-style tile patterns, or fashion a farmhouse-style kitchen with gray wood look floors.

The images are created with 3D photography, so they're clear and vibrant with micro beveling and embossing to add depth, dimension, and textured look. The material can be cut to mimic hardwood boards, called luxury vinyl plank or LVP. Luxury vinyl tile or LVT refers to the material being cut into groutable squares to echo stone or tile.

Other benefits include:

1. Waterproof capabilities. Made of 100% waterproof materials, LVF is impenetrable to liquid whether it's submerged (such as in an appliance flood) or spilled on.

2. Affordability. Sometimes even the flooring experts have difficulty telling it from genuine wood or stone, but your wallet will know since you won't pay nearly the same price!

3. Extreme durability. There are four thick layers, including a backing, core, design layer, and top transparent wear layer. The wear coating is strong and made of melamine, which will protect the floor from scratches and dents.

4. Low maintenance. All this floor needs is regular (daily, if possible) sweeping and periodic mopping.

5. Uncomplicated installation. This is especially so when it's installed as a floating floor. Here, the pieces click together, mat, then hover over a clean, dry, and level subfloor without nails or glue.
